Stopped at Scarlet Kitchen & Bar during a day trip adventure along the St. Croix River and had a great experience. The mini frittatas were absolutely delicious, light but still filling and full of flavor. It was the perfect meal while exploring the area and enjoying the scenic river towns. The atmosphere was welcoming and relaxed, making it a great stop to take a break and enjoy the afternoon. I always enjoy finding local places during road trip adventures, and this was definitely one worth remembering. If you’re traveling through Red Wing or exploring along the river, this is a great spot to stop for a meal.
We stayed at the Treasure Island Resort Hotel for two nights and three days. On our second day, we visited the charming town of Red Wing. I had researched a place where we could enjoy lunch overlooking the Mississippi River, and we decided to drop by without a reservation. To our delight, we were promptly seated at a window table (we opted to sit indoors as it was quite hot outside). Thanks to our friendly server Beverly, she recommended the delicious Caprese sandwich, which my husband thoroughly enjoyed. I ordered the wild rice soup and the poke bowl. The wild rice soup is definitely one I would recommend among the ones I have tried. The poke bowl, with its spicy and tangy sauce combined with fresh quinoa and vegetables, was very fresh and satisfying. The cold brew coffee was also excellent. If I return to Red Wing, I will certainly come back here just for these dishes. The interior was clean and comfortable, which we appreciated. However, I rated the atmosphere four out of five stars because three persistent flies kept entering from the terrace and trying to land on our food throughout the meal. It was a bit distracting having to shoo them away repeatedly. I suppose even the flies have heard how exceptional the food is here! 😅
This place is beautiful. We visited twice in a week during our stay. First stop- server was great and accommodating, food delish. Ceaser salad & soup, Mahi with rice pilaf. The rice pilaf is AMAZING! Second stop- Cheesecurds- delicious! Chicken and of course the rice pilaf (but it was as flavorful this day), Smash burger & fries, Salmon (hubby said was prob best hes ever had!) Great place & will be back! This is located/connected to St James Hotel.
We really enjoyed celebrating our 8th anniversary here! It was a very nice restaurant and the food was excellent! We crab cakes for an appetizer and a lovely orange blossom and raspberry cake for dessert. Husband had the Scarlett smash burger, and I had the bruschetta capellini! All the food was unbelievably excellent! Highly recommend!
Located on the main level of the historic St. James hotel in charming downtown Red Wing, Scarlet offers upscale/casual dining with sweeping views of the river. Elevated menu items and tasteful touches like custom glassware and cutlery add a nice touch. Staff is friendly and dining room offers beautiful mahogany and red finishes for an inviting feel. Large menu with surely something for everyone!
I loved this place. We had a chance of rain the day we went - Table of ten, so we had to stay inside. However our table was made with broken pieces of pottery with epoxy over it. Very cool table. Tons of fresh flowers throughout restaurant. Large menu options, each dish very eye pleasing and delicious. Save room for the desserts…..so good, all of them. Great service and delicious food. We will be back.
Amazing chicken mushroom wild rice soup - creamy and delicious! The watermelon salad was good as well, with excellent al dente couscous. Worth waiting a little extra for outdoor seating on nice days!
Wow, really good food. My wife's fruit & yogurt was full of fresh berries and my Salmon Benedict was tasty and filling. But the star of the show was the fresh baked pretzels our friend had warned us to try. They were delightfully savory!
The only reason I gave it 5 stars is because I couldn't give it 6. Ordered some chicken wild rice soup and it was infused with rainbow carrots and had a great finish with a hint of lemon aroma. My wife ordered a salad with poached pears. They were fantastic and had a kick of spice to finish. Personally I enjoyed the chicken bacon ranch sandwich. The chicken breast was cooked perfectly and so we're the fries. They also serve a craft brew that I had called Minny-Sconsin which was great. For sure one of my top dining destinations.
Fantastic food! I don’t believe there’s a bad dish on this menu which says incredibly lot. The burgers are fantastic, but I particularly enjoyed the breakfast. Sit outside if at all possible. The patio is unbelievable, but the inside is also really nice. Lots of light and not too loud. Get reservations in advance, though. It is popular. Highly recommend – five stars!
